CE Marking – Recreational Craft

ENAVE operates as a Notified Body for the certification and conformity assessment of recreational craft and personal watercraft, in accordance with Directive 2013/53/EC.

The CE marking for recreational craft is mandatory certification for placing them on the EU market. This process certifies that the boat complies with the Essential Safety Requirements established by the legislation, with particular reference to stability, buoyancy, structural strength, motorization, and maneuverability, in addition to environmental protection requirements.

All craft certified by ENAVE

ENAVE is accredited for assessing the conformity of the following types of units:

Motor Yachts / Powerboats: Recreational craft (up to 24 meters) with inboard, outboard, or stern drive engines, including semi-rigid units and inflatable boats (RIBs).
Sailing Yachts: Boats intended for sport or recreational sailing, including multihulls (catamarans and trimarans).
Personal watercraft (PWC): Units less than 4 meters in length that use a motor with a water jet pump as their primary source of propulsion.

ENAVE Assessment Procedures

The person responsible for placing the product on the market may choose the most suitable assessment module based on the specific and technical characteristics of the watercraft.

Module A1 – Internal production control plus supervised product testing

In this procedure, ENAVE supervises official tests regarding the stability and buoyancy of the watercraft to ensure compliance with the mandatory safety requirements.

Module B – EU-type examination

ENAVE examines the technical design and performs tests on one or more representative specimens of the production to verify compliance with all essential requirements.

Module G – Conformity based on unit verification

A specific procedure for a single unit. ENAVE performs a complete technical assessment (physical inspection and documentary verification) on the individual specimen to ensure individual conformity.
