ENAVE for boatbuilding
We handle CE marking of sailing and/or motor-powered boats and yachts in line with EU Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/UE, as well as post-construction CE marking of second-hand or imported vessels, and watercraft that have undergone major renovation and/or modification.
According to EU Directive 2013/53, all craft newly built and commercialised in European member states must be CE marked. This certification scheme attests that the craft conforms to the minimal safety standards laid down by the Directive, and involves comprehensive testing of all aspects of the vessel’s seaworthiness and fitness for purpose, as well as its environmental compatibility.
The route the seller chooses to take to have their craft assessed for CE marking will depend on the length of the vessel. The minimum performance parameters required by EU Directive 2013/5 can be attested via application of the relevant ISO norms, demonstrating conformity to the minimum standards either via direct calculation or equivalent performance testing. Whichever route you choose, ENAVE can help to guide you through the process.
To get a quote for the CE marking required by EU Directive 2013/53, all you need to do is get in touch with ENAVE by phone or by e-mail. Let us know the length of your vessel, the chosen design category and testing location, and fill in the relevant assessment form – we’ll do the rest.
For the most commonly used pleasurecraft assessment forms, ENAVE, as a Notified Body, will oversee:
Form A1: Official product testing for buoyancy and stability
Forms B+C: Comprehensive design testing by type on the plans and one or more representative product samples to ensure their conformity to each legal requisite
Form G: Testing of each vessel to ensure their conformity to all legal requisites
Pleasurecraft exported into the EU and those within the EU that have undergone major modification (to their size, capacity, power, maximum load, stability and/or buoyancy) need to have post-construction CE marking. By obtaining all the relevant documentation and conducting the necessary tests, ENAVE is authorised to assess your vessel’s conformity to the minimum standards required by EU Directive 2013/5.
